Analogue Books

Right. I'm going for a week of posting. At least 1 a day. First of all is news that everyone's favourite shop, Analogue, has had website overhall. It's all modern and clean, plus you can actually see and buy all the nice stuff they sell. There's info about all their past exhibitions (including mine) too. Go to analoguebooks.co.uk

Also, if you're in Edinburgh, head along to Analogue in person and see the rockin' doorway installation that my good friend Rue Five has just finished. Look at him go:

Way to stand on a chair! He's put some cool wee wooden building things up there too. Go to his blog to have a look at more of his work - HERE

One more Analoguey thing to check out is Early Griffin Press (earlygriffin.com) by Analogue allstar Julie and her friend Natalie. They release amazing limited runs of screenprints by awesome artists for you to put on your wall. The current ones are by French, Rachel Cattle and Tom Gauld. They also have a blog - HERE

Group show at Here, Bristol

I sent off a bunch of work earlier in the week for a group show I'm part of at Here Shop & Gallery (thingsfromhere.co.uk) down in Bristol.

Also exhibiting are: Anna Peaker, Simen Helsvig, Salome Oggenfuss and Richard 'French' Sayer. I'm well happy to be in a show with French, who I've met briefly at his Analogue show a few months back. I bought one of his drawings. Have a look at his work, he does lots of metal-as-hell stuff in the Skateboard world.

It's fairly unlikely I'll make it down for the show, so I'm curious to see how it goes from up here. Here looks like an awesome shop/space too. Go along and have a look if you can. Maybe even buy something.

Wild Beasts

Here's another 'Music Monday' feature. This time it's on a Sunday.

The best part of a year ago, my friend Beth introduced me to a band named Wild Beasts. She was mainly getting me to look at the above video for their song 'Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants', as it had been directed by her friend. It's a great video, but I really liked the song too, so I hunted it out. They've got an ace weird 'n' spooky thing going on, especially the singer. He sounds like a ghost has joined a band. They've also got a touch of Adam & Joe's 'Jazz Queens' to them.

The main reason for writing this now is that I hear that they've got an album out tomorrow (Monday 16th June). I guess I'm being slightly music-snobby in an 'I knew about them ages ago' kinda way by mentioning this now, incase they get all famous. That'd be a good thing though, because they're a good band. I've been playing that tune when I 'dj' at Nicky-Tams in Stirling for the past forever. Buy the album!

Tiny Showcase Print.

I'm happy to announce that a print of mine will be available from Tiny Showcase on Tuesday 17th June (next Tuesday). Tiny Showcase rocks. I hung out a little with Shea'la Finch, one of the site's co-founders, when she used to live in Edinburgh and we've finally got round to getting something out there. Have a look if you've not been there before. The news feed is a good one to subscribe too because Shea'la finds all sorts of cool stuff and she writes all funny.

My print will be a rejigging of the "Houses Should Have Long Legs" image above (they'll be printed in a row). It'll be a crazy high-quality letterpress print on some nice brown paper. Some of the proceeds will be going to Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland too. Cheers.

Be A Familiar: Double A-Side

I've designed the cover for the new Be A Familiar vinyl double A-side, Pain In The Heart & Tiptoe. I'm not exactly sure when it's released, I hear it's "soon". I'll let you know when I find out more. It's mainly my old tree drawing jigged about a bit.

Be A Familiar are a fairly new band from Glasgow who are on the way up. Take a gander at their MySpace, which they've recently had updated with some of my stuff, to find out what they're about. They seem to be playing a bunch of gigs in the next few months, so go along and say hello because they're sound as a pound.

NOTE: The single is now released. More information and photos of the final artwork has been posted here.

(oh, the image is a PNG for quality sake, if it doesn't work please let me know).
